Trade Descriptions Act 1968 has been replaced
The Consumer Protection
from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008
A change in UK law means that the Trade Descriptions Act 1968 has been replaced with new legislation; read it and protect yourself.
You have to question why this act has been changed because it was relatively simple to understand. In a nutshell it stated that you must describe your products accurately and they should be able to do exactly what you state they can do.
The new legislation has a much broader view of the subject matter, which may leave businesses more vulnerable to prosecution. Take a close look at professional diligence, misleading actions, misleading omissions and aggressive commercial practices.
Some of the requirements are very specific so we recommend that you keep yourself updated as it is a criminal offence not to do so.
