The 7 habits of highly effective people is used in the script of Coronation Street
The script writers of Coronation Street are using the words of Dr. Stephen R Covey from his book “The 7 habits of highly effective people.”
On the evening of 28th April, the character known as Blanche Hunt, played by actress Maggie Jones, was in the bookmakers placing a bet on the horses. Another character, Lloyd the taxi driver, played by Craig Charles, came in behind here in a rush and attempted to ahead of Blanche to place his bet.
Lloyd was frantic and said “Sorry Blanche, they’re under starters orders so I need to place this bet right now.”
As he stretched his arm over the shoulder of Blanche, she stopped him and those immortal words came out with a triumphant tone of alacrity.
“Poor planing on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part”
What a great line this is! Perhaps we should use it more in our every lives and more importantly, in business?
How often do you get side-tracked by someone else dumping their “poor planning” on you?
As Dr. Stephen R Covey says, “Urgent is usually defined by other people and their deadlines, not yours.”
Spend less time on what is classed as urgent and more time on what is important.
I highly recommend Dr. Stephen Covey’s book, “7 Habits of highly effective people“, especially if you are experiencing problems with prioritising your workload and time management.
