Radical new tyre design by Michelin

Submitted by David Carter

Check Out the new tyre design by Michelin, the next generation of tyres.  They had a pair at the Philadelphia car show.

New tyre design by Michelin

These tyres are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon. The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these tyres. This is what great R&D will do, and just think of the impact on existing technology:

  • No more valves
  • No more air compressors at filling stations
  • No more repair kits
  • No more punctures or flat tyres
  • No need for a spare

These are actual pictures taken in the South Carolina plant of Michelin

Will the practicalities of this new tyre make up for the aesthetics?

Do you think they will be a success?

What are your thoughts?

They look disgusting! Not pleasing to the eye. What about all the rubbish that would be collected in them?

No way I’d pay a premium price for these!

    They’re ugly, don’t look finished.

    Regards,

    Shaun
