Paul Maryan, of NBK Holdings in Qatar shows his delight!
Paul Maryan is the Chief Operations Officer (COO) of NBK Automotive in Qatar. He’s based at the Mercedes Benz flagship dealership in Doha and reports directly to the Chairman and CEO, Sheikh Nawaf N Al-Thani.
In January 2008, he commissioned Jeff Smith to undertake the training of his General Managers in the subjects of Financial and Commercial Awareness so that effective Key Performance Indicators can be implemented right across the automotive sector of the business.
After the first phase of training, everything has been so successful that a new DMS is being implemented together with key financial reports being designed by the General Mangers themselves.
Paul says “Our next step is to get Jeff in front of the Line Managers so that they have the same training that we have received, but with more focus on the key levers that affect operational performance.
When everyone speaks the same language and uses the same terminology to explain what we are trying to achieve, there’ll be no holding us back!
No more confusion, no more misunderstandings and no more frustration. Motivation is getting higher and we as a group have one direction and we all understand it.”
Paul was so pleased with how things are going, he sent a letter to Jeff to share his delight.
The text of his letter reads as follows:
Dear Jeff,
on behalf of my General Managers from Mercedes Benz, Mitsubishi and Auto Services Division as well as our Head of HR, I wish to place on record our congratulation and thank you for from us all here at NBK Holdings for the excellent training conducted by yourself for the benefit of our Senior Managment Team here in Qatar.
Having been in the Automotive business at senior and operational levels for 25 plus years in the UK as well as nearly 9 years here in the Gulf to experience the knowledge transfer you achieved to my GM’s and myself was remarkable.
The manner in which you delivered the information and comprehension was at the highest level.
One can be forgiven for being arrogant in one’s knowledge with all the years and experience at times in some very hard schools and teachers, but it does prove to me more than ever that you never stop learning in life from the right sources and the right people.
We will continue to invest in Insight with further training from yourself and your team over the coming year and we are all confident that our profit opportunities will be measurable.
