Demonstration of independent front suspension in action

Submitted by Simon Davenport  (Warning! This is a humorous post) :-)

I’m sure you’ve heard the term “Independent Front Suspension” but not may people know exactly what it means so here’s a video demonstration for you. Before you view the video, you should read these few lines:

When one front wheel of a vehicle hits a bump or pothole, it will move up or down to compensate while the other wheel remains steady.

Both wheels are independent of each other, hence the term.

Now watch the video, a German commercial for the Nissan Pathfinder, to see how this actually works.

This is a moving experience that should benefit your understanding of this amazing feat of engineering.

It’s the best explanation I’ve ever seen and those Germans have the best TV ads in the world!
